THE REGIMEN & FAQS
General FAQs

What is PLUNJ?
PLUNJ is a Nordic style bathhouse where the main focus is contrast therapy. Our bathhouse is a communal space for those who are striving to feel and perform their very best. Not to mention it is a fun place to hang out. Our bathhouse strives to straddle the line between utility and luxury. You will find that our space, while very well-appointed, is simple in its method as well as in its practice. When all is said and done, we have only one goal: to help you feel better than when you came in.

What services do you offer?

Our space includes a dry sauna which is heated by an electric stove where water can be poured on top to create steam. We also have two spaces PLUNJ 1 & PLUNJ 2 with each a large communal cold plunge tubs that each fit 4 persons at a time, and a rest station with chairs and towels.
Most guests follow a rotation: start in the sauna for 10-15 minutes, rinse off in a warm bucket shower, spend 30 seconds to 5 minutes in the cold tub, and then rest for a few minutes before repeating that process one or two more times.
There is a mens & women's bathrooms, each with 2 showers and soap/shampoo and lockers to keep your personal items in during your session.
We also offer complimentary tea and water to drink throughout the session.
Remember to bring your own swimwear!
What is contrast therapy?

Traditionally, bathhouses have been a center of the community. Our hope for PLUNJ is just that, a place to gather. PLUNJ is meant to be a social place. However, we encourage guests to please be mindful of others' experiences, use indoor voices when talking, and keep conversations appropriate. Any and all unwanted advances will be dealt with immediately.

How long is a session?

Sessions last 1 hour. During this time you may use the amenities as much as you please.

I have a session scheduled today or tomorrow, but I’m not feeling well! What should I do?

If you’re not feeling well, please stay home. We know that the sauna may feel good and might even alleviate your symptoms, but using our public space might endanger the rest of the patrons who use it.
Let us know if you can’t make it as soon as possible, and we will work with you to ensure your reservation is taken care of. Click here to read our full cancellation policy.

How long should I stay in the cold plunge?

The number one principle or practice to follow is listen to your body! If you begin to shiver in the water, your heart rate is increasing and your breathing will be affected. This is your body telling you it’s time to get out and get warm. Dry off with a towel and allow your body to warm up on its own.

Research suggests that you only need to be immersed to the neck in cold water for 30-90 seconds to reap the benefits of brown fat activation, mood-boosting hormones, and improved immune response. In fact, it’s much more effective to do shorter plunges more regularly than it is to do one long plunge.

When you push yourself to stay in the cold water for longer than 2 or 3 minutes, it becomes more about mental toughness at that point.

How long should I stay in the sauna?
The number one principle or practice to follow is listen to your body! Some of the body’s signs of overheating are tingling in the fingers, ears, and skin, and/or hyperventilating.

Research suggests that 10-15 minutes at a time in the sauna is optimal, and anything over 19 minutes per session may be too much. Although we can become more habituated and acclimatized to the heat over time, there is a threshold before too much stress is placed on our cardiovascular system or our proteins begin to sustain damage.

What health complications would preclude me from participating in sauna or cold plunge?

If you have cardiovascular disease, cardiac arrhythmia, excessively high or low blood pressure, fever, cancer, skin disorders, blood clots, varicose veins, or respiratory infections, the sauna may be more harmful than helpful for you.

If you have untreated myocardial hypertrophy, coronary artery disease and/or chest pain, untreated high blood pressure, other cardiovascular health problems or cardiac arrhythmia, it may be best to avoid cold water.

Please consult your doctor if you’re not sure whether you should use the sauna or cold plunges.

If you are pregnant, please consult your doctor before using the sauna and cold plunges.

What is a Group Session/Private Buyout?

If you’d like to host a gathering or party at PLUNJ for family, friends, your business, etc., we offer the option to reserve a time slot for only you and your party.

We offer 1-hr private sessions for one to seven people (max eleven), 2-hr sessions for one to eleven people (max fourteen), and 3-hr sessions for one to fifteen people (max twenty).

If you would like to bring more people than the timeframe typically allows, there will be a $20 charge for each additional person. For example, if you book a 1-hr private session but have nine people, the additional three people will be charged $20 each.
How much does each Private Buyout cost?

1-hr: $175/group (plus $20 per additional person)
2-hr: $275/group (plus $20 per additional person)
3-hr: $375/group (plus $20 per additional person)

Can I book for a party of more than 20?

No, unfortunately, we do not have the space to accommodate more than 20 people at a time. However, if your group has more people than that, you do have the option to reserve two or more time slots in a day to split and accommodate your whole group.
Booking FAQs

I see that there’s availability online during the time I want, but it won’t let me book for more than one person. Why is that?

That means that there is only one spot left in the session. You’ll be able to book for as many people as there are spots available.

How does the waitlist work?

If there is an option to add yourself to a waitlist when booking online, that means the session is full. You can add yourself to a waitlist and if someone cancels their booking during that session, you will receive a text or email notifying you the session has become available. From there, you will have an hour to decide whether you’d like to take the spot before it is given to someone else.

What are the payment methods at PLUNJ?

We accept all major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Venmo. If booking online, you will be asked to pay at the time of your booking. If you call or text to reserve your spot(s), you may pay at the space before your session.

I am running late! What should I do?

If you are running late for your assigned time slot, we can either help you reserve a newly available time for a $5 fee, or you are welcome to come and use the remaining time you have left on your original booking.

Do I need to fill out a consent waiver?

Yes, which you may fill out before you come in for your session or at the space: consent waiver
Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, we do! Call or text us and we can help you purchase one over the phone.
